[Music] Ella’s Top 10 Debuts of 2018

 10. PLT – Blah

I found PLT after they came out with Hocus Pocus in May. I really like this song because of its mixture of rap and vocals. Villian and Moti’s rapping mixed with June, Jung Jinwoo, and Gaho’s singing appeal to me. My favorite part of the song is the chorus. I also picked this song due to the great music video that comes along with it. The video is very aesthetic, showing the members as well as the city around them in a visually pleasing way. PLT’s videos have narrative connecting them together, which I do not completely understand it but it’s cool how they connect every video together.

9. LOONA – favOriTe

This debut had me very excited because it took Blockberry Creative 2 years to announce all of the members of the band. One of my favorite parts is the choreography and how it focuses on the member singing. It’s hard to balance line distribution with 12 members, but I wish they did a better job at giving every member their time to sing/rap. Overall though, this debut was very strong and made me– and most other fans– excited for what’s to come from LOONA.

 

8. (G)i-dle – La Ta Ta

These girls weren’t very popular yet they suddenly exploded onto the charts. It’s easy to see why with a great rap section– which you don’t see much nowadays with many cute girl groups– and a catchy chorus along with it. This video is pretty good, some parts have me slightly confused but that is somewhat normal. The majority of the video is the members dancing in various location with the rest being focused on the member singing. This song has made me like it more and more as I listen to it again and again.

 

7. Stray Kids – District 9

Once I heard Hellevator, I was very excited to see what this new JYP boy group could do. After seeing their 4 comebacks throughout the year I can say I’m impressed. They have released so many good songs and this is definitely in the top. I like the concept for the video, which is one that I haven’t seen before. The chorus is more of an EDM style but it isn’t too intense or  isn’t that bad.

 

6. UNB – Feeling

I really like UNB because I tried my best to watch the unit as it went on which made me excited to see both of the groups at the end. The chorus is my favorite part by far, it is very upbeat and has a way of making me very excited to listen to, I also really like intense choreography. The video is very aesthetic with a lot of dark colors like red, purple, and black. I really like this song because it is a combination of people from bands I really like, examples include; Hansol from Newkidd and Feeldog from Bigstar.

 

5. Lucente – Your Difference

This debut was one of my favorites. I didn’t know about this group until a little but before their debut, this debut would have gone under my radar unless I didn’t know about them beforehand. I love this concept and color’s used in the video, black, blue, and purple. They show all of the members well, by themselves and with the whole group. I also really like the pre-chorus and chorus, they are very intense which matches the concept nicely. I can’t wait to see more from this group.

 

4. D-Crunch – Palace

This 9 member group debuted with an intense style. The song consists of mainly rap but it’s not to over the top and it doesn’t get boring. The video is just them dancing, which is not a bad thing, and has a color scheme of black and red, trying to give off an intense vibe. They had a comeback in the second half of the year called Stealer which was one of my favorite songs of the year. I am very excited to see where these boys go in the future.

 

3. Noir – Gangsta

Noir is one of the more underrated groups of 2018. They have really good tracks but no one listens to them or knows they exists. This debut from them was very strong in my opinion. Have released a 2nd track, airplane mode, but I’m still excited to see what’s to come from these rookies. I hope they get more popular in the near future because they have so much talent.

 

2. Target – Awake

Target is one of my favorite groups. I found them through their companies other boy group TST (please check them out) a year before they debut. There debut blew me away. I love the rap that G.I does in the beginning of the song, I enjoy it because of his unique voice. The chorus makes me smile every time I hear it, it’s an intense song with a video to match. They had an amazing comeback in the 2nd half of the year called ‘Is It True’ which was a much slower song that grew on me over time. Target isn’t very popular yet so please check them out, and their many dance covers.

 

1. ATEEZ – Treasure

This debut blew me away. Ateez, previously KQ FELLAZ, had a later debut in the year but it was well worth the wait. This song has an amazing chorus, breaking away from the rap that comes before it, a slow and peaceful one that I really enjoy. The video is shot in the desert which matches the song very well. The song that came out at the same time, ‘Pirate King’, is one of my favorites of the year. They just had their first comeback, which is really good, and all I can say is that I’m very impressed. They had so much talent and deserve all of the new fans they are getting.

[Music] MinJoon’s Mothly Top 10 – February 2016

It is now the end of February, which means another Top 10!  A lot of comebacks this month, and they are all amazing!

10. MoMoMo – Cosmic Girls
Happy Debut! Cosmic Girls is a 12 member group, of 10 Koreans and 2 Chinese girls, from Starship, With Sistar and Monsta X. I just hope they don’t pull a B.A.P or EXO and decide to have a concept of all looking alike. I have a feeling that the Astronaut is MPD! Kwang Soo looks adorable as always! It is fun how they took the twist to make all the girls seem like they where aliens being visited by a stranger.

9. Feel So Good – B.A.P
Holy Colorful sets! I FEEL SO GOOD! I kinda feel that the set paint spilled on Zelo and they just kinda went with it. “No Time to shower! We have to film!” This MV is very fun, and shows a soft teenage side of the boys. This song has grown on me, since I haven’t really listened to B.A.P before. (I’m sorry!) Now I’ve seen some people saying “This MV looks like BTS”, but there is absolutely nothing similar between the two. This song is a great party/road trip song.

8. Overcome – NU’EST
I love this Post-Apocalyptic setting in this MV, the vagabond style really ties it all together as well. I am very excited over the small steampunkesque accessories, such as the jewelry the boys are wearing, the gears on the pocket watches, goggles and the hints of gold in their outfits. Ren’s hair extensions look great as well. (I feel like I’m making a habit of commenting on hair)

7. Galaxy – Ladies Code
After taking time away from their careers due to the tragedy that had taken the lives of two amazing members, Ladies Code comes back with Galaxy. The power of three seems to be the big concept here; triforces, triangles, three way chess. I’m not sure what the siscissors symbolizes, but this MV is great.

6. Hide & Seek – Astro
Happy Debut also! As someone who watched Astro grow into the group they are now, I am very proud of how well this debut is. This song is super fun and bubbly without it being an overly gushy cute concept. The opening and closing sounds remind me a lot of DMMD, a Japanese BL computer game.

5. Rain – Taeyeon
I love this single album. Secret has become one of my favorite songs. I did like Taeyeon with her longer hair, but it’s understandable on why she cut it so short, but she still looks super adorable and childlike. The MV is simple, not too much going on, just you typical, it’s a rainy day and not much to do, and that Tae is reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix! The way the MV switches between the room scenes and the black and white solo stage shots are amazing. Soon the MV takes an unexpected turn and the objects in the room turn to water and soon the room is flooded, it almost reminds me of the scene in Hayao Miyazaki film Spirited Away, when the Water spirit comes and the bath house becomes flooded with random things and gold.

4. 넌is뭔들 (You’re The Best) – MAMAMOO
Hey! Mr. Ambiguous, Piano Man! MAMAMOO pulls my heart strings with their amazing soul voices! The MV gives a very flirty girlfriend vibe, which is adorable and fits the song amazingly. I love that MAMAMOO adds a lot of humor and old fashions into their MVs and songs, I also love that they hint to their other songs such as Mr. Ambiguous and Piano Man. MAMAMOO’s dances are defiantly dances you would want to learn.

3. Drip Drop – Taemin
It was really hard to pick between Drip Drop and Press Your Number, since both are amazing; but I didn’t want the list to be the same couple artists, so I picked one. This song gets stuck in my head like no other. The dance is amazing, Ian Eastwood did an amazing job at the dance for this song. I love the color correction of the sky to make the scenery really pop. It also so filmed pretty close to home, so I am a little bias on the location. I recommend this album a thousand times over, the highlight medley had me sold. The album has more ballads than the last one, one of my favorite songs off the Album is Solider.

2. Sympathy – Jung JoonYoung ft. Suh YoungEun
This MV is quite sad. The song is very moving. The orchestra and the vocals tie in so well. The song is about losing love in a way you never expected, how there is no way to change how it ended. The female part of the song blames herself for everything getting hard and falling apart, while the male part starts off saying “At some point I stopped missing you”. In all it’s a very emotional song, and deserves a lot of love.

1. Sentimental – Winner
Now, I do realize I made Winner first on two months, but I do believe this Comeback is the best thing that has happened to Winner. With the comeback songs of Sentimental, Baby Baby, and I’m Young. Each of these songs is beautiful and has a strong meaning. I’m Young had me in tears, the MV hit hard and crushed me. TaeHyun said that he had wrote that song when he was in love, so his heart is really in that song. YG had as all pretty pumped up for Sentimental and Baby Baby with all the covers from other Artists. I feel like Sentimental is a song we can all relate to. I enjoy how the MV flows from one room to the next, and the colors are amazing. Most of all, who wouldn’t love Mino’s ‘trucker’ look! I look forward to the next part of EXIT.

[Music] MinJoon’s Mothly Top 10 – January 2016

Hello everyone! I decided that I would make a TOP 10 list every month for K-Pop comebacks!

10. Made It – Crown J
Now this MV confused me at first. On 1theK’s channel, it had some weird angles, then I found out that it was a 360 MV. Now this is on the list cause it reminds me A LOT of the music and MVs here we have in America. Not to mention the girl in the MV is very very pretty!

 

9. Everything – The Black Skirts
This is a very mellow song. It almost reminds me of songs you heard in old movies. It’s simple MV, and just a nice chill out song.

 

8. Don’t Forget – Crush Feat. TaeYeon[Girls Generation]
This is an amazing song. Tae and Crush’s voices sound amazing together. It is a break up song, but It’s a nice winter song as well.

 

7. I Hate You – ChoA and Way [Crayon Pop]
This song is a great change from the usual fun pop songs that Crayon Pop usually does. Though their is no video

 

6. Lollipop – IMFACT
This was one strong debut. They are all super fun and full of energy. UngJae, the youngest, wrote AND composed this song. The Dance is fun. Though it’s a typical cute boy concept, they really did twist it up and make it different in their own way.

 

5. I Miss You – MAMAMOO
OH MY WOW MAMAMOO~~ They always drag me in with their amazing powerhouse voices! They also seem super excited for it to be released.

 

4. I am You, You are Me – Zico
It’s strangely cute? The chimes and the softness of the song. The MV is very appealing to watch. Overall an awesome song.

 

3. Depend on Me – VIXX 
Though this song is in Japanese, I had to put it on the list. Ravi did an amazing job on this song. The dance is probably one of my top favorite VIXX dances now. The MV is not too complex like some of their MVs. You can really tell the difference between each and every member and the parts are pretty evened out as well. 

2. No Love – Lucky J
I love this song, the traditional sounds and voices melt together and just are very amazing together.

 

1. Pricked – MINO & TAEHYUN [WINNER]
This song I have had on repeat almost every day. It gets stuck in my head and it’s amazingly done. Also, They are my biases in WINNER, I am excited to hear the rest of EXIT

[Music] Top 10 of 2015

Hello everyone! 2015 is officially over! Are you all excited for 2016?! We sure are! There are lots and lots of cool events and music coming out! We hope you follow us along the way and enjoy this year as much as we will!

HAPPY 2016!! 

 

BIGBANG MADE Tour in Las Vegas

 

BIGBANG! October 2nd, 2015 BIGBANG Hosted their FIRST Concert in Las Vegas, Nevada! Though they have been here to film music videos such as Tonight, and for vacation, it was amazing to have them here for a concert! They arrived in Las Vegas on September 30th, at McCarran International Airport (Video X).

The concert was held at Mandalay Bay Event Center. Fans from near and far came to see this once in a life time experience. We found a lot of fans from Mexico, Brazil, Canada and even Australia! There wasn’t a bad seat in the venue, and it was amazing to hear everyone sing and hype up BIGBANG before they got onto the stage. There was a lot of video clips in between songs that told a small story.

At first I wasn’t going to attend this concert, which was a huge bummer, but Iris had surprised me to the point of tears with a ticket to the event. I am forever grateful. This was my FIRST K-Pop concert, and I’m not sure if anything will ever top this! I got to finally see T.O.P say “YOU LIKE VEGAS?!” Which I have been longing for a good long while! Iris and I actually got to talk to the Nutty Nomads which was really cool, they were so sweet and nice! We were very shocked by how many K-Pop Youtubers came to Vegas! I hope they enjoyed it here! We hope BIGBANG makes their way back to Vegas for another Tour or Music Video, we will welcome them with arms wide open!

GOT7 Fan Meet in San Fransisco

The San Francisco GOT7 Fan Meet was on May 6th at the Warfield Theater. This was their first fanmeet here in America and just a few days before they had performed for the first time at the Korea Times Music Festival in LA.
For me this was also my first time in SF, and even though I didn’t have time to go site-seeing I still had fun meeting fellow I-GOT7’s at the venue~

Before they let us in for the show they had set up two lines; one for those that had the Jazzy Superstar Membership (which I was in), and the other for those that didn’t.. They were supposed to open the doors at 7 and let those with the membership go in first, but for some reason they opened the doors at almost 8 and let both lines in at once which caused a lot of chaos in my opinion.
Those of us who had the hi-touch and photo-op opportunities had to go into another line once inside to get our correct wristbands…. Which was another problem because they had no big sign to tell you which line was which and only had two people give in the wristbands/checking off people’s names.
In the end they gave up and just handed everyone in line a wrist band not checking any confirmation email and just trying to get everyone in their seats.
I had just got to my seat and I’m not kidding when I say not even a second later that I sat down the show started.

~During the show~
After the intro video finished Got7 came on stage and performed ‘Stop Stop It’ and right after performed ‘Gimme’. The boys then came back on stage; introduced themselves and then sat down to answer questions the fans had left on sticky notes for them. After answering questions and performing different requests from fans the boys drew seat numbers from a box to select a few lucky winners~
Got7 then got ready to perform their next song, ‘Forever Young’ followed by ‘Magnetic’. They took another break and two fans came on stage to surprise BamBam with a birthday cake.
Then the lucky winners from the raffle got to come up on stage and play some games with the boys; like “magical” chairs as Jackson called it lol
After getting to play with their fans, Got7 performed their final two songs of the night, ‘A’ + ‘Girls Girls Girls’. When the boys left the stage the crowd of fans started cheering for an encore to which the boys delivered an amazing encore performance for everyone by performing JJ Project’s debut song, ‘Bounce’! …Followed by a remix version of ‘A’~
Once the encore ended the boys left the stage for the last time and the lights came on much to the fans dismay and the staff started clearing out the venue with the exception of those of us with hi-touch/photo-op wristbands.
Hi-touch winners were let on stage first as that was the quickest and for me getting to be so close to the boys was such an amazing opportunity (and their hands were so soft ;-;). Everything went by so quick that I forgot everything I wanted to try and say to them but it was still an amazing night and we got a free poster from the event as well~
